5 Tips to understand Chinese table manner

Chinese New year is coming, everyone is going back hometown to have reunion dinner. Most of Chinese know the do and don't s on dining table when having meal.But do you know why are they incorrect and what does those action means?

Here are tips that help you more understanding Chinese table manner and do the right thing while you travel to China.

1. Carry you rice bowl instead of putting it on table while you are eating. ↡↡

Put rice bowl on the table may give people a bad impression and look ungraceful. Like our grandfather always said it looks like dog eating pattern.

 

Chinese people claim that carry bowl while eating able to help us earn more money. And also rice must be finished,rice grain cannot be left in bowl otherwise girls may marry to a guy who have pimples.

2. Correct way to put chopsticks 

Do not put chopsticks stand in the bowl, due to Chinese only do that when they pray for their ancestor.

If you want to pause your meal, put the chopsticks across in your bowl so that it will not be smudged. 

3. Correct way to hold chopsticks

A lot of youngsters unable to hold the chopsticks correctly. Chopstick is one of the Chinese important norms.

4. Do not make sound when you drink soup. 

In Chinese norms, making sounds when you are drinking is very rude.

Talking to each other while you are eating may let people see the food that you are chewing and it definitely won't be nice. At the same time the food in mouth may split it out.
